Our Softwood Kiln Dried Logs are packed into user friendly nets, each net contains approximately 11 to 14 logs depending on the size of individual logs.

Our Softwood is grown, harvested, split, netted and kiln dried in Cornwall. Our softwood is grown purely for firewood, chip wood for biomass boilers, paper production and the building trade. As soon as the timber is felled and cleared, the land is replanted ready for another harvest in 8 to 10 years’ time, this will be for the thinning process, allowing for the remaining trees to get bigger for the timber trade, so it’s all totally sustainable for the future.

By purchasing from us, you are supporting the Cornish community.

The softwood trees used for our softwood kiln dried logs is primarily Larch. Larch is a member of the Spruce family of softwoods. Larch is one of the best softwood species to use for kiln dried logs because is very dense and once dried in our kilns produces the best softwood kiln dried logs on the market.

Because our Kiln Dried Softwood Logs are kiln dried to perfection they light very easily and gives off tremendous heat very quickly, so it’s ideal when you return from work to a cold home, just put some kindling and a few kiln dried logs on top, light and with 20 minutes you will be warming yourself.

Burning wet wood may appear cheaper at the time, but it’s not in the long run, the true cost could be extremely high. Wet log’s, when lit, boil the water content off first. Moisture will appear as steam, you may or may not see this, but this happens, the steam ‘’Water’’ then condensates on the stoves glass, then on the inside of the flue / chimney. What really does the damage, are the hydrocarbons/ash/tar deposits will stick to the glass making it black, which sticks on the inside of the flue system/chimney. This builds up to dangerous levels if the chimney is not swept regularly and the soot / tar build up can cause serious chimney fires that are very difficult to put out.

Burning Kiln Dried Logs helps keep your chimney, stove glass and operating system clean, when you burn kiln dried logs the log lights straight away and get very hot quickly. This is because the moisture level has been dropped to below 20%. Putting it in simple terms, burning Kiln Dried Logs saves you money, you burn less firewood because you get the heat you require from the kiln dried logs you burn as you are not heating water. Because the kiln dried logs burn hotter you keep a clean stove glass and seriously cut down on the tar build up in your chimney/flue system.

It’s recommended that you reduce/turn off the air supply to the fire/stove as soon as the Softwood Kiln Dried Logs light, this will make them burn for longer and give you hours of heat.
