Ensure your part seasoned firewood is dry

Your logs should be as dry as possible before burning. We recommend a moisture content below 20%. We also recommend that you allow your part seasoned firewood to dry for a minimum of 6 months before you attempt to burn them.

Why you shouldn’t burn wet logs

If you put a wet log in your fire, your wood burner will need to burn off that excess moisture before it’s burning efficiently. You are basically boiling off water from the log, which will condensate in your stove and flu, causing harmful deposits to build up to dangerous levels.

If you don’t have the room or time to dry your logs for the proper amount of time, we recommend that you buy our kiln dried firewood.

Storing your part seasoned firewood

You should always store your firewood under cover and in a well ventilated area. If you don’t have wood store, a garage or shed is ideal. If your storing your logs outside, please ensure your firewood is covered with waterproof sheeting. It’s important in this situation that the firewood is still well ventilated to ensure your firewood doesn’t go mouldy.
